Ch. Rhydowen Penny Chip ROM children

Rhydowen is the name of a village in Wales.  This name was chosen by Pat for a son of Ch. Lord Jim's Lucky Domino x Ch. Springdale Swansea Claude many years ago.  He was a tri-colored dog named Ch. Swansea Lord of Rhydowen CD.  You always hear of lords in Wales yet one in Rhydowen could not be found.

The prefix Rhydowen, Reg has been in use since the 1970's.  As you will notice, several dogs carry both the prefixes of Rhydowen and Swansea.  The name Swansea was owned by Margaret S. Douglas & Pat Santi.  When Margaret retired Pat attempted to register the name with the AKC. At the time the AKC would not register anything considered a formal name. Since towns named Swansea could be found in the states of Massachusetts and Michigan, the request was denied. So, Rhydowen was chosen instead.

This site is a tribute to all the Cardigans of old, both Swansea and Rhydowen, as well as to showcase the current Cardigans joining the Rhydowen flock.

Owners: Pat Santi, Jan Siragusa, Nancy Baybak, John Kleppner and Brenda & Jeff Medlock.
